PROHEAR 016 Slim Passive Shooting Earmuffs: quick answers
- Protection
- NRR 26 dB on the package (SNR 31 dB in Europe). A lab figure: NRR explained shows how OSHA reads it.
- Power
- No battery: passive cups and foam do the work.
- Options
- 7 colors plus 5 two-color options, 2 pad types, 2 pack sizes.
The 016 is our slim passive muff for the range. The cups are slim and cut low at the back, so a rifle stock meets your cheek instead of the shell, and there is nothing inside to charge: foam and a sealed housing do the work, rated NRR 26 dB.
You pick from seven colors and two-color 2-packs, so a range partner never grabs your pair by mistake. The band folds, the cushions snap out, and if you shoot in glasses the gel pad option seals better around the temple arms.
Every shooting & hunting model sits in the PROHEAR selection; the numbers on this page come from the model’s own box and spec sheet.

How much noise does the PROHEAR 016 Slim Passive Shooting Earmuffs block?
Its Noise Reduction Rating is 26 dB, measured in a lab to ANSI S3.19-1974. On a real head a muff usually blocks less than the lab figure: OSHA subtracts 7 dB from the NRR when noise is measured in dBA, and NIOSH now recommends checking the protection each wearer actually gets. Our NRR guide walks through both.
